Adoption brings about many different emotions, and we understand that you are making an incredibly difficult decision. We want you to know that we will always respect that you are a child's birth mother and that you will always have a special place in their heart. If you choose us to raise a child, please know that we will work every day to prove that you made the right choice in picking us.

Adoption has always been our first choice to start a family, as we have known about our fertility issues for many years. We made the decision to pursue adoption while we were still dating, and once we got married, we began seriously researching the process. Our hearts are open and we are excited to be on this journey to parenthood together.

We promise to instill good values in a child by teaching them always to appreciate their friends and family and to never stop being curious about the world around them.

Maryanne & Sean

We met through mutual friends over Memorial Day weekend in 2013 and immediately hit it off. Sean was a bit shy at first, but we went on our first date a week later. Sean lived north of the city at the time, and Maryanne lived in New York, so our first few dates were all over New York City. One of our favorite dates was spent while we were walking and talking for hours in a park along the Hudson River. Time flew, and we ended up being there till the park closed.

As our relationship grew stronger, we moved in together in New York. After five years of dating, we got engaged in Prospect Park in 2018. Sean had prepared a sweet picnic, and Maryanne said yes! Afterward, Sean organized a party with all of our friends to celebrate. We were married in September 2019.

Maryanne is a caring, intelligent, and compassionate person. She is the friend everyone wishes they had, and she loves to make other people happy. Maryanne is always planning fun events, whether Christmas parties, picnics in the park, dinner gatherings, or weekend trips away.

I knew on our first date that Maryanne was special. I remember how easy it was for me to talk to her, and we bonded over our mutual love of history, New York City, and crossword puzzles. Maryanne is a naturally curious person. She's always picking up new books to read and loves learning new skills. Recently, she has taken up needlepoint and also enjoys knitting gifts for friends. We both love to travel and visit historical places. One of our favorite places to drive to is Teddy Roosevelt's house on Long Island.

Maryanne works for a media company, and her job is remote. The company offers a generous family leave policy. She is planning on taking six months off once the baby arrives and is looking forward to that special bonding time.

It was clear as our relationship grew that Maryanne would be a wonderful parent. Many of our friends have children, and they love to play with her and have her read them bedtime stories. She is kind, loving, and respectful of her many friends and family members.

Maryanne will be a great mother because she has a strong base of values. She is caring and patient and is ready to take on the many joys and responsibilities that come with being a mother. She can't wait to welcome a child into our family!

Sean is a smart, funny, kind, and responsible person. Through the years, Sean has been a constant source of love and support and is the most reliable person I know. He is dedicated to his family, his friends, and his work as an attorney. He always puts 100% into whatever he sets his mind to. Sean's job is hybrid, so he has the flexibility to work from home for part of the week.

Sean is extremely organized and loves planning trips, whether close to home or abroad. He has a knack for picking the best restaurants, and I'm always looking forward to our next adventure. Sean and I go with his family to Lake George every summer, and I can't wait to continue that tradition with a little one.

Along with traveling, Sean enjoys trying new recipes in the kitchen, running in the park near our home, and visiting with family and friends. Last year we welcomed our nephew into the family, and it's been a joy seeing "Uncle Sean" bond with him. Sean has a gentle spirit and endless patience, so I know he will be an outstanding dad.

I feel incredibly lucky to have Sean as a partner in life. He never hesitates to pick up the slack around the house and always takes time to hear about my day. Our favorite way to unwind is to curl up on the couch together and watch one of our favorite shows or movies. Any Will Ferrell movie will put a smile on his face. Sean will be a caring, compassionate, and silly dad, and I can't wait to see him in action!

We live in a unique neighborhood, with a small-town feel even though it's in the city. We are lucky to live across the street from a park in a large 2-bedroom apartment. The park has plenty of great activities for kids, including playgrounds, ice skating/roller rinks, a zoo, a carousel, and tons of open space. Sean loves to run in the park and relax by the lake after work.

Our neighborhood also has many great schools, quality childcare centers, and tons of family-friendly restaurants. An added perk is we also live within walking distance of many of Maryanne's lifelong friends, and her parents are only a 20-minute drive away.

Our community of friends and family is very excited and supportive of our adoption journey. We're very lucky to have so many loved ones close by which makes it easy to get together for family parties and holidays. Maryanne's parents still live in New York City, and Sean's parents and sister both live in suburbs just outside of the city.

One of our favorite things to do together is travel. Whether just planning a day trip or going away for a week-long trip abroad, we love to explore new places together. Maryanne's goal is to visit all 50 states, and she is well over halfway there. We both have family living in Florida and are lucky to have an excuse to fly down and have some fun in the sun a couple of times a year. We can't wait to show our future child some of our favorite places and experience them through new eyes.
